# TxPool

> Inspect pending, queued, replaced, and competing transactions in a running Reth node.

The txpool commands read a running Reth node through JSON-RPC. They currently use `txpool_content` and, where needed, `eth_getTransactionCount`.

Use these commands when you want to understand why a transaction is pending, queued, missing, replaced, or competing with another transaction.

## Prerequisites

Start a Reth node with the `txpool` namespace:

```sh theme={null}
reth node \
  --dev \
  --http \
  --http.api eth,net,web3,txpool \
  --datadir ./alice
```

Rex connects to the local execution RPC endpoint at
`http://127.0.0.1:8545` (`localhost:8545`) by default:

```sh theme={null}
rex txpool inspect
```

Use the global `--rpc <URL>` flag to target a different endpoint. It can appear
before or after the `txpool` subcommand.
